Daddy's birthday!

Than it was finally dads big day. I don't think we should say anything about age..... But his still thinks his around late 20's!! Tjihihi!
In the morning the kids and mom got up and decorated the living room and made nice breakfast for daddy.
The kids decided that also Daddy needed party hats for his birthday. Later on that day we went out and got Daddy a birthday present - a Kenwood kitchen machine - Hurra!! I don't think it was the thing that daddy wanted the most, but it was something we needed (just like the vacuum cleaner i got for Christmas! Tjihihi)
We didn't have enough candles, so decided that one would be the symbol of all of them. The day after Daddy got a wonderful cake made with his new Kenwood!!

Nationalday of Singapore

On the 9th of August it was Singapore's 43rd birthday. Every year they have some entertainment down on the stage in Marina Bay, and at the end theres a big firework. We packed a picnic bag to go down and have a look, but because of moms bad back (NO, i am not getting old!) and some heavy clouds we decided to have the picnic on our balcony.
On the menu we had ham and cheese, crackers and bread, Rabina and vin...... Really nice! We all tried to be patriots by wearing Singapore's colours - red and white!! After a while the rain came, easy to escape by being at home.... so the end of the picnic we did at the dining table!

After three weeks in Singapore, Linda and Mauris went back home to Norway (7th of August 2008). We all squeezed into the car - and had a proper goodbye at the airport. We are looking forward seeing you again!!!

Thomas celebrating his birthday in kindergarden

Thomas was so excited having is birthday party in kinder garden - finally it was his turn. Linda, Rachel and mum stressed quite a bit to get it all fix, but was only 30 minutes late...thjhihi! Everybody in Thomas group - the kookaburras - were ready for cake.
First we all sang Happy Birthday, and then Linda and I did the Norwegian birthday song - Hurra for deg! Than the chines teacher and some of the chines kids sang the chines birthday song.....and finally Thomas could blow out the four candles!
The birthday kid is concentrating very hard om cutting the cake. Because of the birthday crown, the kids in his class started calling him the King!
Everybody got some cake and juice. A very happy, but very loud gang!!
At the end the King handed out a candybag for everyone - which is very popular!

Singapore Flyer

The Singapore flyer was finished this year. It looks quite similar ti London Eye, but a bit bigger. Every time we drive past the flyer, the kids are asking when we can take it, so on Thomas birthday we did.
This is the view of the flyer from the road. This time the kids pointed at it and was very proud that they had taken it!!
On our journey we spotted an eagle..... which became more interesting than the view for a while. In the background you can see some tiny spots which are all the big boats waiting to get the the harbour.

Thomas and Phillip enjoyed the trip for a while, but than it started to become a bit boring. Here they are looking at the building sight for the new Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort, which will include Singapore's first casino, a big theatre, hotels and restaurants. They hope to have it finished by 2010.
View of Marina Bay. The silver round roofs is Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay. Some say they have tried to copy Sydney Opera house, other say it is resembling the thorny durian fruit which the Singaporeans love (we don't!). You can also see the floating stage.

Thomas 4 years old!

This year we decided to celebrate Thomas' birthday on the Sunday (3rd of Aug), so we could make it into a full day. And Thomas had of course no complaints about that. He has been asking for this day since Phillips' birthday!

We all got up and had a lovely breakfast together. On the menu it was pancakes, fresh fruits and frozen yogurt.... I think this is a bit Australian - but we all liked the idea!
In Norway kinder garden normally makes a crown for the birthday child, but this year Linda took the job! Thomas was so proud!
After breakfast Thomas started opening his presents. To make the most out of each present, he played or listen to it for a while before he opened the next one. Here he is on his new scooter...in his underwear!
The Kaptein Sabeltann t-shirt topped it all! He was so happy and proud to get that. The Kaptein Sabeltann cap that he had lost a few months ago, had some how blown back to Norway, and landed on Linda and Marius' balcony, so they brought it back to Singapore...
In the evening we celebrated with cake and party poppers - let the party begin!!!

Redang - beach!

The beach on Redang island is lovely - white powder sand, and the water is turquoise! Beautiful!
Thomas and Phillip building a sandcastle. They really enjoyed the freedom of playing outdoor all day, and go for a "swim" when they felt like it. The water is quite salty, so Phillip stopped sticking out this tongue!!!
We dug a big hole in the sand, which Phillip just called the toilet!

Sand got everywhere, but the ice cram still tasted delicious!
The big art work! Some people though it was a lizard - not very bright - yes, of course its a crocodile! The sad thing was that while we had dinner, somebody destroyed our hard work.
